For some users, “mc” is defined in the .bashrc startup file as a function of bash, it conflicts with the definition of the new “mc” in the system startup files.
If you do not run “mc”, just rewrite the standard startup files to your home directory:
cd
cp -f /etc/skel/.bashrc.
cp -f /etc/skel/.bash_profile.
Correct Cyrillic representation in mc
For the correct display of Cyrillic characters in “mc”, execute:
LC_ALL = C mc
