Multi-Purpose Detector (MPD)
The goal of this project is to create the first phase of the MPD installation, which consists of a superconducting solenoid, a time projection camera (TPC), a barrel time-of-flight (TOF), an electromagnetic calorimeter (ECal), a zero degree calorimeter (ZDC) and a fast advance detector (FFD) The MPD is designed as a 4π spectrometer capable of detecting charged hadrons, electrons and photons in heavy ion collisions at high luminosity
The software for the experiment is deployed on CICC in the CVMFS system: MPDRoot Framework, which allows for analysis, simulation, and reconstruction of data.
NICA offline cluster of 300 cores (limit for users) was created at CICC and 1400 cores were allocated for data processing on the Tier1 site, and 1000 cores on the Tier2 site.
The EOS system is used to store data. There is currently 1000.00TB allocated for the MPD experiment (2000.00TB physical quota).
MPD users use all the computing resources of both CICC and MICC (Tier1 – 1400 cores, Tier2 -1000 cores, GOVORUN – 3260 cores, Clouds – 70) cores).
