MPD- Multi-Purpose Detector

Multi-Purpose Detector (MPD).
In 2018, the MPD international cooperation was established to create , commission and operate the MPD detector,  which is designed as a spectrometer capable of detecting charged hadrons, electrons and photons in heavy ion collisions at high luminosity.  In addition to JINR, 12 countries, more than 500 participants, and 38 institutions are participating.

2025 Q3:

The MPD users use resources of CICC-Tier1-Tier2, cloud, Govorun/HybriLIT.

MPD Resources and Services:

• CA
• CVMFS
• CICC (grid)
• Disk and tape storage (EOS, EOS-MPD, dCache, EOS-CTA)
• Cloud (OpenNedula)
• Govorun HPC, HybriLIT (Slurm batch)

Software:
The software for the experiment is deployed at  the CVMFS system:
MPDRoot Framework, which allows for analysis, simulation, and reconstruction of data.

Storage Systems are used:

at CICC:
EOS (eos.jinr.ru) 2400TB,  Data Access Protocols: local, root
EOS-MPD (eos-mpd.jinr.ru) 7PB,
EOS-CTA long-term storage tape system,
dCache (Disk, Tape)  Data Access Protocols: GridFTP, root

at CLOUD: ceph, Data Access Protocol: local

at Govorun/HybriLIT: LUSTRE, Data Access Protocol: local

Computing resources:
at CICC :
Tier1 1500 cores (can use up to 4000 cores),
Tier2 1000 cores;
GOVORUN: 3260 cores;
Clouds: 70 cores

atAuthentication:
X.509 certificate (Tier1,Tier2)
JINR Kerberos SSO (Cloud)
