Since 2001, LIT JINR scientists have been actively involved in the development, use and development of grid technologies.
The most important result of these studies was the creation in JINR of two grid sites integrated into the global grid infrastructure of the WLCG project (Worldwide LHC Computing Grid) .
Two GRID-sites are built at JINR:
the 1st level resource centre (T1_RU_JUNR) is used to process and store data the CMS experiment and simulations for the NICA project.
(Initially, a full-scale Tier-1 center at JINR was created at the suggestion of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation in 2011 and launched in March 2015. Currently, T1_RU_JINR is also used for the project NICA )
the 2nd resource centre (JINR-LCG2) for ATLAS, Alice, CMS, LHCb, STAR, BES, COMPASS and other experiments.
- The JINR staff contributes to the testing and development of the grid middleware, the development of grid monitoring systems, and the organization of support for various virtual organizations.
- The only specialized conference in Russia on grid technologies and distributed computing is organized and traditionally held at JINR.
- A permanent work is being done to teach grid technologies, for which a separate educational grid infrastructure has been created at JINR.
- In the field of grid, JINR actively cooperates with many foreign and Russian scientific centers; Special attention is paid to cooperation with the JINR Member States.
